Emma has turned into Ariel. The child is obsessed with mermaids. We have them in many colors and varieties... some that can go in water, some that cannot, Ariel herself, etc. So, when we were in Dollar General and saw this bargain Halloween costume we HAD TO HAVE IT! I have no idea if the costume will make it to Halloween but it will provide hours of fun and that is what matters at this age. I am still pushing for her to be Maggie from Maggie and the Ferocious Beast so I can tag along as Beast.
Emma turned FIVE August 19th. She had a fun-filled day! The day before, her name was drawn to be the "student of the day" so she had to pack the "ME" bag full of her special things to share with the class. She brought cupckaes to school to share with her friends and I was able to join her to help pass them out. Mrs. Roger's gave her 5 birthday tickles in front of the class. When we got home, she opened her presents from Mommy and Daddy. She enjoyed her special day!
Today was Emma's 1st day of Kindergarten. Kevin brought her to school this morning. I said goodbye in the hallway and sent them on their way. Daddy snapped a few pictures and got her settled in her class. I did see her in the lunchroom today. She was doing great! At the end of the day, she told me, "I LOOOOVVVVEE KINDERGARTEN!" Hope the enthusiasm lasts. For homework tonight she was supposed to tell us the favorite part of her day. It was snack time! That's my girl!
Well, we all got haircuts for back to school (except Shelby the cat). Zack's was the most expensive but he looks and feels like a new dog. Emma had her hair cut yesterday and when I went to have mine done today, she wanted it to be the same. I think it is pretty similar. We are ready for school to start Monday. She is excited and I am anxious to get back to a routine (if only we didn't have to get up so early).
We had Open House tonight. Daddy had to work so Emma's babysitter, Miss Tricia got Emma ready and brought her up to school to meet me for Open House.
Emma's teacher is Mrs. Rogers and she is phenomenal. Like most people around here, she is a Georgia fan. She asked Emma about her Auburn purse and if she would like a new red and black Georgia one. Emma replied with, "We're Auburn people!" That earned her a high five from mommy.
CD, the school's therapy dog, was there for Open House as well. He and Emma were big buds last year and Emma was thrilled to see him after the long summer.
We are looking forward to a great year!
